Alyson Johnson stares into her dugout for the next pitch sign from the coach.  The 400mm lens frames her perfectly without cropping.  I had a couple of shots of her but the cage on her mask in the other photos cut her face in weird ways.  This was perfect to see her eyes and frame the rest of her features.

Some of the fans from the game can get pretty into the support, as you can see here.  That is three person tower with the crazy fans in the outfield.  They had noise makers, pot and pans and cow bells to distract the other team.  They were told once to keep their celebration down a notch but they were just having fun.

Kristen McKenzie finished the game with 1 AB, 1 hit, 1 run, and one walk.  She plays a great third base and really fights for the plate when at bat.

Cal finished the first game 12-0 against Clarion, the game didnt make it past the 5 inning because of the 10 run rule after the 5th inning.  This makes for a good time because it is a faster game for me.

Merissa Daley produced 2 RBIs with one hit in the second game.  Again this game was a 10 run rule game which I figured would happen because of the caliber of team Clarion was.

This was my favorite photo from the day even though I didn’t get the view I wanted but it worked out great. The catcher in the background with the baserunner sliding into home plate.  Even though she was out still made for a great shot.

The nice thing was at the end of the day, Dr. Armenti spoke to the team which lifted their sprits.  He spoke of the softball team that won the national title and how he sees the same spark in the current team as he did with that team.  This really made the the lady vulcans smile.

Well after a long weekend, I’m back to post. This weekend was busy shooting some different events like the Box Out, Relay for life and double header baseball. Thursday was a beautiful day for shooting with a nice blue sky and nice soft lighting. The box out is day where clubs in the college build a themed object for them to live in for the day. This years theme was our dream house, even though there wasn’t much interest I did get a few good PR shots of students at the event.

I really love this shot for PR, it shows a student hanging out at the event and using her time to study.  This shows that events are fun but yet don’t take school time away from them.

After the Box Out it started to rain until the next morning which really made the relay for life a mess because of all of the mud. Also from the storm the winds were very strong. So with all of the tents of the participants you can just guess the mess and annoyance of the event. I did get some group photos but many people were not there because of the situation of the weather and ground. Along with those issues there was a sickness going around from something, some thought the food so lets just say I stayed clear away from all food and drinks offered there.

Right after that i took off for the baseball game which turned out to be a nice game. We did end up winning both games which was a great push for our baseball team. I did manage to get some good shots of the game while I was there. Next game I wanna focus on other aspects of the game like pitchers warming up in the pen or dugout shots. I have so many baseball shots and those are the easy ones to get, I need to push myself further.

On sunday I shot a community Easter egg Hunt for the young kids of the community.  These kind of things makes some parents weird about their kids in pictures but all of the families were very happy with my photographing their kids.  It was a very fun and quick event which makes my life GREAT!

Well after a long time not posting, I am back and ready to blog again.  School has slowed down and the business is starting to grow.  I just attended ITEA (International Technology Education Association) in Louisville, Kentucky, which is a national competition for all Technology Education majors across the US.  At the conference my team and I placed first in the Digital Communications competition.  This is an event where we are given a topic to follow and we must create a video in the given time.  This year our topic of the video was to create a 30 second public service announcement of the watercraft of the Ohio River.  We were given 2 days to produce this video including filming, editing, and also create a notebook.  We had 6 people on our team and I was the editor of the video.  It was a rough 2 days of working nevertheless we came out on top beating the other six schools in our event.  

I will be posting the video online in the next few days.

Along with that excitement, I did manage to buy a Nikon Sb-28 flash and some fun toys with it.

I will have reviews on each of these products and how they work.  I will also be having a write-up about modifying the Cactus V2s triggers to make them much better performers.  I will have to say I have been using this single flash setup for some group photos and it seems to work great, I will be getting a whole other set of this stuff for a two flash setup.

Here is my first photo shoot with my buddy Jeremy Walck.  I only used this setup plus a homemade snoot from a Pringles can.  He is a triathlon athlete so he has been training a lot in the gym so I figured he would be a great person to shoot as my first subject.

This is one of the first shots that I took with him, I brought a spray bottle full of water to create the super sweaty effect of him lifting very hard.  I would have like a little more expression in this photo but it was just really an opening shot with new stuff.

This was one of my best close shots of him with his extremely sweaty (wet) hair.  I love the look of his emotion in his face, there is so much drive it creates the photo.

 Next is my favorite three shots of the same set.  We were in the basement of the high school in the weight room.  On the wall there are panthers stenciled on the wall with a blue stripe.  This shot was a total luck shot when I first saw how the light reacted with the wall. It lit the wall up and faded off as it go to him.

As you can see my gallery site is up and running full-swing.  It seems to be working well and really doing what I need it to do.  Well done Zenfolio, they just added the option to sell digital files and I am still kind of leary about it but I am giving it a shot, I have added a full res download and also a desktop size that can be downloaded.  I am currently trying, (site seems to be down right now), to add a digital picture frame size option that customers can download a digital file sized for digital picture frames.  This was a request and it seems that more and more people are buying them so I will add the option.

Spring Break is tomorrow so shooting and relaxing will begin

This is one shot I really liked because it showed the student sitting around a table and the sign placement was perfect just to show she is from Shippensburg.  I was quite suprised on how well the 50mm 1.8 and my D300 held up in this lighting.  I am really impressed with the setup and I used that combo the whole time.

This is my fun artistic look to the conference, Hey you can’t just shoot people all day.  Again the 50mm and D300 worked wonderful handling the high iso and low lighting.

That night was very fun, with a Casino night.  Students recieved chips and were able to play casnio games.  This was a blast and yes I threw some craps.

Finally I can say the site is done as I can see!  I worked on this for the last few days and it’s finally DONE!  I fell it is very good and I am proud of it.  Please leave me comments on it and tell me how you feel about it.  Also please, if you find anything not working or slight problems let me know.

After I got done with the site I took some pictures.  I need to start to take more photos everyday just to build more skills and find some new shooting techniques.  Here are two shots I was playing around with, we have this dart board so I decided to shoot it in different ways.

Along with that I took a photo I had seen from a student gallery at my college.  I took his idea and tried it in my own way, and I think it has a nice look to it.  Tim took his using Hershey Kisses instead of tabs but Clayton, my roomate, has a huge bottle full of tabs so I decided to use them.
